Overview of the Role

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced marketing professional who is passionate about the humanitarian landscape and has experience curating intelligent content, to join a small team within Angus Montgomery’s international event portfolio. They will deliver an impressive conference programme and successful and wide-reaching marketing campaign which will drive international visitors to the event and ensure the brand is recognised worldwide within the aid and development sector.

Overview of AidEx

AidEx is the leading event for professionals working in aid and development. Launched in 2011, AidEx includes a conference and exhibition in Brussels featuring 200 exhibitors and 2,000 visitors and a 500-delegate satellite conference in Nairobi. The purpose of this event is to bring everyone together under one roof, to network, share best practice and devise new strategies for the more efficient delivery of aid.

Summary of Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement and monitor all marketing activities to ensure deadlines are met, within budget and in-line with the event objectives both online and offline
  • Research and author a comprehensive conference programme for the AidEx conferences which cover the key issues within the theme
  • Recruit high-level and interesting speakers – organising full briefing of panels ahead of the events and ensuring they promote to their networks
  • Liaise and negotiate contracts with affiliate partners, maintain the AidEx website and registration platforms to achieve target visitor numbers at the two events.
  • Line manager to the PR Officer and oversee PR activity and assist them in meeting their objectives
  • Support and assist the Event Director in developing opportunities to further build the AidEx brand.
  • Create a systematic, process-driven approach and strategy to outreach and relationship management within the aid and development sector
  • Work with key organisations such as the UN, Red Cross, EU, NGOs and the private sector
  • Collaborate with the Event Director and other members of the AidEx team to align the internal goals, targets, and objectives with new and existing relationships
  • Forecast, measure, and report the visitor results of each event
  • Set marketing budgets and efficiently manage the spend

  • Degree level education
  • Energetic, highly motivated, can-do attitude who enjoys networking and establishing relationships
  • Experience working in events
  • Fluent English writing and speaking skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience in building partnerships and working in a community essential
  • Passionate about current affairs and the not-for-profit sector and ability to fully immerse themselves within the sector and really understand the needs and challenges involved
  • Many speakers and partners will be in high-level positions and the candidate should be experienced with liaising with this calibre of participant
  • Strong organisational, administrative and creative skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects independently
about the position
  • Working hours are Monday to Friday - 9 - 5
  • You will be affiliated to the HQ office, based in 9 Manchester Square, W1U 3PL
  • Some overseas travel
  • This is not an entry-level position - experience is required and experience managing junior team members
  • The permanent job position will start as soon as possible

Senior Sales Executive

Role: Senior Sales Executive, AidEx
Reports to: Event Director

Salary: Dependant on experience

Overview of the Role

AidEx is looking for a senior sales executive to help drive commercial activities. Working alongside the Event Director to canvass existing and new data to generate new business and look after a large data-pool of existing business.

 Day-to-day activities will include;

  • Sell exhibition stands to new and established exhibitors and partners over the telephone and face-to-face (includes some travel)
  • Generate new business through individual lead sourcing
  • Sell value added services (sponsorship)

  • Generate new leads/business and rebuild relationships with lapsed accounts
  • Attend competitor events, expanding the database and prospecting for new business
  • Assist in exhibitor promotion for the event
  • Help manage the CRM system
  • High output to ensure maximum coverage of the Aid and Development universe
  • Accurate and timely reporting and pipeline management
AidEx are looking for someone with…
  • A strong interest in current affairs and some knowledge of the Aid and Development sector
  • Sales experience within the exhibition industry
  • Excellent tele-sales skills and face-to-face ability
  • Good research skills to find new companies and leads
  • Ability to develop a deep understanding of the commercial landscape and products
  • Confident communicator in all mediums: written, verbal, face-to-face and telephone
  • Great client facing skills, speaking to high-profile sponsors
  • Good organisation skills and excellent IT with good knowledge of Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook

  • Hit monthly revenue targets
  • Bring new business to the exhibition
  • Increase exhibition revenue at each event
  • Increase sponsorship income at each event
  • Maintain a high level of customer support to new and existing exhibitors
  • Plan, organise and execute multiple campaigns across the product portfolio to ensure the quality of output is always maintained
  • Drive increased revenue performance across all commercial lines including, but not limited to, sponsorship and stand space
